Makeup Making History
Every single thing in this universe under goes changes. Like seasons and fashion trends, makeup trends also change. In fact significant changes can be seen if we look at makeup transitions in last few decades. Even the slightest change in makeup trend gives a unique oomph to personality. Ladies often go gaga over these changing makeup trends and readily accept them. The fashion parade never seems to stop. Since early 19’s, women have known to be the doting beauty queens with, makeup, clothes, bags and hairstyles on fleek. So here I mention some makeup trends that changed over time and were so popular that they still remain in our hearts.
Ever since lip stains were introduced, red has been an all-time favorite. From 1920’s till 2018 women go with the simple trick “When in doubt, wear Red”. Red lips not only give a unique charm to your personality but also gives a trendy look. It never goes out of fashion. Women of all age groups chose red as its universality is beyond question.
In early 1940’s women loved to highlight their cheeks. They used pinks and dark shades on cheeks clearly naming them as “Apple cheeks”. It still is in fashion to apply blush in such a way that apples seem prominent. However in 1980’s and 1990’s, women used to apply bush with brown tones and all over their cheeks giving them slight definition. But now the purpose is being fulfilled by contouring. Hence apple cheeks are again in.
Lashes on the roll:
Long, healthy eye lashes have always been in trend. Women often desire for lashes that are voluminous. Even today when lashes are on the roll, people have devised ways to make them extensive. A special treatment named as “LASH EXTENSION” has become a life saver. Women are using this technique to get naturally long and desirable lashes.
We all are familiar to this term smoky eye. The ultimate parties look as well as easy to apply. The smoky eye makeup is a life saver. It originated in 1950’s and ever since remained in fashion. Women became bold and started pulling of party life with smoky eyes along with long lashes and full coverage faces. In start only black was used to smoke out, but now tones of blue and brown are also used to create subtle smoky eyes.
Who doesn’t like shinny lips? Everyone does. In fact women go an extra mile to add gloss on their lips. Even though matt lips has been in trend for some time now but gloss was never out of fashion. With minimal makeup on face and subtle shine on lips, it is indeed a complete look. Even adding an extra shine to your tinted lips is satisfying. Hence, glossy lips is always the finest thing.
How can we forget the basic makeup item that has seen major transitions in past several decades? From cat eye to thin line and then Arabian style. Eyeliners have always been in fashion. In fact a makeup look can never be complete without it. In early 1950’s cat eye liner became extremely popular. As in that era doing extra was considered fashionable. Soon the trend shifted to a sheer line eyeliner just above the lash. Today all sorts of liners are used depending upon occasion, theme and choice.
The most loved thing of this decade is contouring. Makeup now a days seems incomplete without adding a warm tone contour. It not only helps in giving a precise shape to your face but also is excessively used to enhance your bone structure. Women contour their jawlines, cheek bones, fore head and nose to add dimension to their face. Contour has various aspects but significantly is used to manifest your face shape.
Glitters all over:
Glitters have been in use since early days. But the function was different. Earlier it was used to style hair, then shifted on nails, but now is directly applied on face. Earlier it was also a trend to use glittery lipsticks and blushes but using it as a highlighter and eye shadow is merely today’s fashion. It does look extra but all thanks to our makeup bloggers that have set new trends for us. Hence glitters are all over these days.
Well, all these makeup trends actually traveled from west but are readily accepted by entire world. Makeup has a strong characteristic that it helps in depicting a lot about a person. Hence these transitions not only define history but also tell us about people of those times. It is clear that trends are made to follow and we thank our beauty bloggers for introducing us to trendy looks.
